If you have not read the book THE HELP then do, please! It has gotten lots of buzz, great reviews, and is a book club fave. My good friend Vicki de Joy recommended it and my local bookseller Karen from Omega Books can't wait to hear "what I think." I think this Kathryn Stockett should win a National Book Award for this, her first novel! If you have read or do read it, let me know what you think! "The Help" is the story of a young white girl writer who talks a number of black maids into "telling their story"... and, boy howdy, do they! Set in the days of early Civil Rights action, and inaction,
it lets you see history from a unique, charming, fearful, fearless, and authentic and poignant perspective. I plan to share my copy ASAP with my friends but will not soon forget this tale that makes you laugh and makes you cry and makes you think, and cheer! I, myself, am working on a series of Christmas stories for a 2010 holiday release. It's always inspiring to read great writers! I can always learn new tricks, can't you! (See I didn't put a question mark there on purpose; that was a STATEMENT!)

Great book, I agree! I stayed up until 2 am to finish it. I haven't done that in 9 years...since before I had kids! I know it was great if I was inspired to do that.

Sara, yes, my favorite thing is to find an "all nighter" book that you just can't put down! My next "hopeful" book is "The Rose" which is a multi-generational book that's said to be even better than "Gone With the Wind"!
