to Charleston in my life – but it was fun to see it through the eyes of my daughters, Anna and Rebecca–that's "Ashley" and "Cooper" to those of you who have read the book! Along with their grandmother, we navigated the some of the most narrow streets I've ever experienced to visit almost all the sites featured in the book–from the Old Citadel building that is now a hotel (the girls' favorite part–Patty and Charlie, the cockatiels who greet guests in the lobby!)–to
Blue Bicycle Books (proprietor, Jonathan Sanchez happily obliged us with a picture of the blue bicycle "in action!")– to the Old Market (vendors and food galore!)– and of course to Ft. Sumter! We explored every inch of that Fort... inside and out! It is undergoing a much needed, major renovation right now–so there is intermittent electricity in the museum and NO working restrooms on site! Glad we were only there for about an hour! We learned a lot about Charleston's history - but mostly we just had fun! The weather was gorgeous, the food was mouth-watering, and Charleston's southern hospitality never fails!
